Nando is the author of the New York Times bestseller Miracle in the Andes: 72 Days on the Mountain and My Long Trek Home. In 2010, Nando was featured in the History Channel documentary I AM ALIVE: Surviving the Andes Plane Crash, which continues to air around the globe.
In the 40 years since the crash, Nando has become a successful businessman and television producer. He is the CEO of four companies and hosts several popular television programs in Uruguay.In his spare time, Nando races motorcycles, sports cars, stock cars and watercraft.

[T]hat's why we and China are at loggerheads over this. It's why the Hague, basically the world court ruled against China and why all the nations of the region are trying to build up their military strength as much as they can in order to protect their claim.
This is the flashpoint, this is where outside of probably the Korean peninsula, this is where some type of armed conflict is most likely to break out. It was a challenge that President Obama never figured out exactly how to deal with, in part because he was consumed with other issues in the Middle East, and Ukraine and the like, and it is something that President-Elect Trump has waded into right away. We will have to see whether he decides to really challenge China in its claims, whether he really decides to support the smaller nations that feel threatened by China, or whether the balance of power continues to shift in China's favor.

When we look at the world, we see the world through a kind of intellectual prism. One of those triangular bars of glass that focuses and refracts light. For decades, the prism through which we saw the world was the Cold War, that titanic struggle between the Free World and the Soviet Union. Well, Cold War ended in 1991 and we didn't have a way to look at the world anymore. The prism went away. If you remember your great president from Houston, George H.W. Bush, talked about the New World Order, but he couldn't explain what that was. Not his fault. Just he had an intuitive sense that something new was starting to take shape. Well, it has. Now there's a new prism through which to see the world.
If I had to find one word to describe that new prism, that word would be modernity.
